robert report: tool time

People!! It’s time for another installment of tool time! Again, it is my goal to help you understand tools and how to use them, giving YOU the power of knowledge!

Today’s tool talk is all about brush bristles and what they mean. Believe it or not, there is a rhyme and reason to which bristles are used and how they will work.

Hair type

Natural bristles are for powder products because a natural bristle will distribute the powder more evenly! They can also be used for creme to powder products, but main usage is for powder products!

Synthetic bristles are for creme or liquid products because a natural bristle will absorb all the moisture in the product. With a synthetic bristle you will get better application of your creme or liquid because it will distribute the product better!

Brush Type

If a brush has tighter, stiffer bristles it is designed to lay color down. A brush with bristles like this will give you a higher concentration of product left on your skin after application. Important when applying your highlight shade of eyeshadow, eyeliner, foundation, concealer, etc, because it requires such precise application.

If a brush has softer, more pliable bristles and has more movement and give, the bristles are designed to blend and apply color in a much more subtle way. Important when applying midtone and contour shades of eyeshadow, as well as blush, bronzer, powder, etc, because you want it to blend and look more natural.

Love Your Brushes

Lastly, I just want to remind you the cleaner the tool the better the application! Also, the better you take care of your brushes the longer they will last, sooooooo clean them regularly! Love your brushes and they will love you back!

Infinitely yours,
