beauty tip tuesday: what color should my lip liner be?

Question:
I never know which lip liner to choose for what lipstick. Should my lip liner be darker than my lipstick, the same color, or what?

Answer:
You never want your lip liner to be darker than your lipstick. (If it is, be sure to fill in your entire lip before applying lip color – so you do not look like you at an Oreo cookie and forgot to wipe your mouth).

A shade the same as your natural lip color always works, because, regardless of the shade you apply on top, your lip liner will match your natural coloring.

Keep in mind that your liner color can change your lipstick or gloss shade. For example, if you use a really bright shade of lipstick, it can mute the color of your liner, and using a very deep lipstick shade can lighten the color.

So, if you choose a bright lip color and do not want it muted (or softened), choose a lip liner that matches your lipstick or gloss.

If you choose a deep lip color and want to avoid having your lip liner lighten the color, choose a shade that matches your lipstick or lip gloss perfectly in depth.
