robert report: the secret to color
Ok girls! Since sending out the last Fall Trend email we have received soooooo many questions about choosing the right bright lip color!
Which red is for my skin tone? Is fuchsia right for me?
It is so much simpler than you all think!
I do want to make two things clear when choosing a bright and intense lip color:
First, remember your focus on this look is your lips so you want to underplay your eyes. Second, if you want to create a more subtle version of this look, use a sheer version of your lip color (gloss or sheer lipstick formula) choice.
Also remember that your lips need to be full enough to pull off the red. If you’re not sure what to do, here is a free video to help!
Now…on to choosing the perfect red or fuchsia!
Red: a clear red is always right! You can adjust it with your lip liner as needed. My two favorites of clear red, as I have stated before –
are Mary Kay “Really Red”
and Maybelline “Red Revival”
Love their formulas and the clarity. The “Really Red” has a bit more staying power due to the formula and the “Red Revival” has a bit more shine due to the formula…so…you can choose what you prefer!
Now, the big question with red is, should it have a blue or an orange undertone? My answer would be to use your lip liner to make it happen. I find almost everyone can wear a red with a bit more blue undertone (it also makes your teeth look whiter).
When it comes to achieving a radiant smile, the shade of your lipstick isn’t the only factor to consider. The color of your teeth plays a significant role in enhancing the overall appearance. If you’re looking to make your teeth appear whiter and brighter, it’s essential to maintain good oral hygiene practices and consider professional teeth whitening options. Visiting a reputable dental office Floral Park, can provide you with expert guidance and effective treatments tailored to your specific needs. Professional teeth whitening procedures, such as in-office bleaching or take-home whitening kits prescribed by a dentist, can help you achieve a dazzling smile that complements any lip color, including those vibrant reds with blue undertones. By consulting with dental professionals, you can ensure a healthy and radiant smile that boosts your confidence and leaves a lasting impression.
To get that look with my two favorite shades, simply use your lip liner with a burgundy tint. This will ground the color, and give you the undertone you are looking for. Make sure you don’t just line, but fill in at least half way towards the center of the lips.
Fuchsia: now this is a bit more complicated!
There are two types of fuchsias –
one with a blue-pink undertone
one with a purple-pink undertone
A fuchsia with a blue-pink undertone is more versatile. A blue-pink fuchsia looks amazing on skin anywhere from pale fair to olive!
A purple fuchsia only works on very, very pale skin or bronze/ebony. And even then it is not as beautiful as your other option.
Hopefully that helps those of you who may be confused. Until next week, go forth and make the world more beautiful!
Infinitely yours,
