top tip of the day: make those peepers pop!

How can I get my eyeshadow to blend better, go on more smoothly, and last longer?

I always apply concealer and powder to eyelids before applying eyeshadow. They will cover discoloration on your eyelid and provide a clean canvas onto which you can artfully paint your eyeshadow. This technique also helps make your shades look clearer and more true in tone and helps your eyeshadows blend more easily and wear longer.

I know some people think foundation will work for this, but some formulas can cause your eyeshadow to crease and will not cover discoloration nor create a clean canvas the way a concealer will.

Also available are products called eye primers, which can create a perfect surface for your shadow color; they help prevent creasing and keep the natural oils in your eyelids from reacting with the eyeshadows and causing them to build up in the crease.

If you use an eye primer, you should still follow it with concealer and powder, because the primer will not cover all discoloration and can hinder the all-important blendability of your eyeshadows.
